Alice Hamilton
Born Dublin Ireland, Trained at The College of Dress Making and Design.
Served apprenticeship under one of Irelnd's foremost dress designers, at
Bett Foley's Studio Grafton Street Dublin.
Ice and fire,
the MC had the only words
with meaning for the act to come.
Few others were as apposite
before the interracial gathering,
more likely weaned on bog-mist,
leprechauns, shillelaghs.
Then, the feet were dancing,
reeling in the quiet of respect
with rhythms linking back
to halls of island kings,
Racing heartbeats in this hall
responding surely
to precise formalities
and certain passion of the Celt.
Sounding then in turn
the salvoes of acclaim,bearing witness
to a message understood-
the fire,the ice, have overcome
the dross of Paddywhackery.
